Council Mortgage

I recently applied for council mortgage on property and got approved for amount we requested €150k.

In the meantime this property has been sold and we found another suitable property in the last week but need more money as price is €185k.

I am wondering if it is possible for us to make an appointment with person in housing department of council that approves it for more than we originally applied for? I don't want to jeopardise our opportunity to get a home.

No harm in trying. As long as the extra 35k doesn't push your budget out the window. Beware though on the full T&C's with the council mortgage. Also, note down names and contact numbers of any one you deal with.

Yes the extra would be still within our budget.
I'm just worried we are going to look greedy ifykwim.
