I am going to Costa Rica this month to see what the property market is like there.
Long Shot I know but I was wondering if anyone has any friend or family over there.
I could do with a contact on the ground.

The CS land registry has registered land sales 40% in excess of the entire footprint of the country and thats not taking account of roads, uninhabitable spots, mountains, airports, etc. A reliable solicitor, disengaged from the scamming of foreigners would be critical. Many buildings don't have planning on the coast and its only a question of time that they are ordered to be pulled down.

I know that there can be alot of problems there which was why I thought that if I could at least have some contact on the ground it would help me. This is a lifestyle choice and is not about money so it is worth a little effort on my part.
Having said that I do not particularly want to loose money there either.
Hope that I can get the best of both.
