I have a palm tree outside my house approx 10-12ft high that I would like to remove as unsure where its roots are relative to house service piping

Anyone any idea as to cost to remove tree and would cost include for removal of main roots so that surface can be chipped over? Would cost include complete removal and disposal also?

Thanks in advance

Can it be removed with roots intact - I would love a palm tree this size - seems an awful shame to destroy it.

Palm tree trunks are not normal wood - more like the centre core of a pineapple.

Because of this they are much easier to cut down than 'a tree'

Rois....Yes nice tree but have to think about what the roots could potentially be doing... one of neighbours had problem last year where the roots had broken the foul waste line from the house.... i'd be nervous about lifting it straight up as unsure how close the roots are to the gas line that supplies the house... so kind of no option but to cut tree and then carefully remove elements of the roots so that i can chip the area over

olddog... 'centre core of pieapple'....does this mean the roots would not be that deep??

to cut a palm tree (more likey you have a cordaline) down and cut it into managable lenghts would take about ten minutes with a proper husq or stihl saw. its just pulp on the inside and cuts like butter.

the cost of this job will be removing the cuttings (will need a shredder to get rid of the fronds) and then removing the stump properly.

when talking to an aborist bare this in mind.

best of luck.

Thanks olddog...very interesting link.... that suggests roots not that deep... now puzzled as to whether i will remove it or not... The tree looks great and gives bit of privacy from the neighbours.
