Cost of the Indo

Walked into my local Asda supermarket this morning to get my newspapers and saw a copy of the Indo on the stand and bought it at a cost of £1. European price was over 3 euros. How much does it cost in Ireland?

By the way, when I got home I found that it was yesterday's edition!
(What else can you expect in a small market town in the English Midlands?)

The Irish Times is €1.50. I think that the Indo costs the same or maybe slightly less.

GBP£1 = €1.44.

No VAT on newspapers in the UK.
13.5% VAT on newspapers in Ireland.

didnt know that? In France they charge you an arm and a leg for british newspapers and I think they're usually the day before's papers! Something like €10 for one of the tabloids which are full of thrash anyway (€10 is a slight exaggeration )

Why bother saying it if you know that it's an exaggeration so?

An attempt to sensationalize the price difference.

exaggeration

n 1: extravagant exaggeration [syn: hyperbole] 2: the act of making something more noticeable than usual; "the dance involved a deliberate exaggeration of his awkwardness" 3: making to seem more important than it really is [syn: overstatement, magnification] [ant: understatement]

The Indo & the Sunday Indo is free if you register with www.unison.ie
IMHO far more economical & reduces the amount of paper in the house - available anywhere with internet access.

You spoke too soon ClubMan. The Irish Times went up 10c this morning to €1.60!! Suspiciously the SAME price as the Indo. Maybe its just coincidence...
