Cost of replacing roof to convert to a dormer

I'm looking for a ballpark figure on the cost of replacing a roof on a bungalow and making it into a dormer bungalow. The existing floor area of the bungalow is about 1500 square feet / 140 sq. metres.

Would this work out cheaper than building a regular extension?

I am in the west of the country.
