Cost of re-wiring - any ideas?

Hi

I'm looking for some pointers about re-wiring. We're sale agreed on an old house (1940) which has antiquated wiring. The property is 800 sq ft. I haven't looked at the fuse box, but worst case scenario, what kind of money might we be looking at?
 
All the info is out-of-date if you ask me. I posted last year regarding re-wiring and all i got were a few pm's with mobile phone number's. It seems the trade dont want to give away any trade secret's so too speak.
 
I was quoted 8K for a 2400sq ft 1950's bungalow in November last for full rewiring if that is any help. Worked out at €65 per point approx.
