Cost of race horse

How much would it cost to get a race horse trained say for point to points.Have stable grass etc.
 
Lots. Horses need hay in the winter as well as nuts etc throughout the year. Then there ise vet fees as well as a trainer. Entry fees, hiring a truck to get the horse to France. That said you should be able to get a horse cheap. My brother is a trainer and he said the recession started 3 years ago for him. Would say he has plaenty of people willing to sell.
 
I worked for a company that kept a few horses, it cost about €1000 a month to keep a horse with a well known Meath trainer, vet bills, entry fees were extra.
 
You might consider purchasing shares in a syndicate.

That means that you get the fun of owning a horse at a fraction of the cost.

You also share your misfortune with others.

If you are going to use a trainer, it depends on the trainer, the Aidan O'Briens of this world will charge you far more then a local point to point trainer. You're looking at probably a minimum basic of €200-€300 pw + fees, vet costs etc on top of that.

If you are going to do it yourself, bear in mind you may need to get a training licence
