Cost of installing central heating?

A difficult question to answer accurately (I'll try and give as much info as possible). We're looking to pay to have central heating fitted in a relative's house and I'd just like to know how much we should be budgeting for before we look to get quotes. As it's not our house, figures are my best guess.

Mid 1970s 3 bed semi d (approx 1200-1500 sq feet)
No mains gas available so will need oil tank etc.
Between 8-10 rads required
Would it be worth / sensible getting fairly useless electric shower replaced at same time?

Any info I've missed, please let me know and I'll post if I can.

Thanks in advance for your help / replies

about €7000 - €8000 plus VAT. the boiler alone could cost up to €1500 (condensing), Cylinder €200 + inc immersion. All electrics I.E motorised valve, time clock, room stat. Rads and valves, pipes and fittings. oil tank, fittings and filter. Labour charge will depend on location.

Get three quotes to compare. Cheapest isn't always best. Be sure and ask for make of boiler and do some research on it.

Thanks for that DavyJones,

Do you have any recommendations on boliers?

Cheers again DavyJones, will certainly have a look at those. Any thoughts on replacing the shower set-up at the same time as the other work and what it might cost? Or are they not really connected?

Thanks again!

Not really connected. every house has two systems really, Plumbing I.E basins, baths showers, kitchen sink etc and Heating I.E boiler, radiator The two systems don't mix and are seperate.

Cost of shower €200-ish, if they are working in house they should do a deal, it should only take an hour or so to swap over.

Great,

thanks again, truly DavyJones. Will stop pestering you now!
