Cost of hiring staff

Quick question, re: hiring staff.
Say, you hire someone at 40K per year.
How do you calculate the total cost to the company?

at €40,000pa the PRSI rate is A1. The employer PRSI is 10.75%. Cost of PRSI therefore €4,300 +€40,000 gross pay = €43,400. There may be other costs to consider such as any additional employers liability insurance & other related items.

The overall cost is a deduction for corporation tax so the net cost would be the total cost less the tax decution at 12.5%.

Graham is correct, but his calculation is wrong. 40,000+4,300 = 44,300.
