Hi,
I'm currently bidding on a new 4 bed semi. The house is due for completion very soon. I'm trying to work out the cost of fitting out the house and finishing it. It's a reasonable size 4 bed semi and it comes with PC sums of €750 for the fireplace and €1750 for the kitchen.
I would like to fit it to a reasonably decent level. I intend varnishing the upstairs floors as these are good solidwood floorboards. I also intend to carpet downstairs rather than using timber floors. I'm coming up with a figure of €14000 to €16000. Does this seem realistic? Has anyone any similar experiences?

Sounds quite realistic to me.
We spent 10,000 on a three bed semi and most of the stuff we got was decent enough.
The allowance for the kitchen is quite low you will more than likely need to add a good bit to that but there are great bargains to be had on flooring if you look for them and similiarly on beds and bedroom furniture.
If you buy a lot of the stuff from the same place you can bargain, shop around and price everything in a few places, get quotes and use them to bargain if you like a particular item.
