GHi folks -Am thinking of getting my eyes done at Optilase.My query is this:Vivas have an offer that takes 1000 off the price(3000e).Can I then claim tax back at the 42% rate off the 3000,thereby leaving me with a net payment of e730?

ie
3000-42%=3000-1260
subtract the vivas 1000
=3000-2260
=730
...Or am I missing something here???

My daughter is going to get her eyes done also but when she mentioned to the doctor abouy Vivas, he said with them you have to get the eyes done in some place in Dublin and for some reason he was not entirely happy about that place. Look into this further, You need to be very sure as its a big decision,

You will get your tax back on the 2000 it has actually cost you, not the 3000. In fact, the first 125 is excluded, so you will get tax back on 1875.
