cost of building an extension

Does anyone have an idea of building costs for an extension ie sq footage - just a rough idea, we are in the Kildare area (near Naas).

I'm also living in Kildare and we built an extension last year approx 140 sq ft at total of €25k (€179 per sq ft).

At this stage, I'd wait until spring before beginning work, its a messy job anyway so you don't want the additional burden of cleaning up the muck as well the dust!

The RIAI http://www.riai.ie has a useful (albeit very brief) consumer booklet on building cost guidelines. I know I downloaded it from their website but I cannot now find the link to the relevant page. Anyway, the guideline costs range from €2,250 to €3,300 per square metre, depending on whether it is a basic extension, or if alterations are also required to the existing house
