Cost Estimate prepared by QS

Hi All,

Does anyone know if a QS would prepare cost estimates for a person who was thinking of buying a house with a view to extending it or doing work to it?

We are trying to establish how much we have to spend. We know what we have mortgage approval for. We need help in working out how much the purchase plus the extension would cost and therefore budget for that.

Does a QS need drawings? Someone told us that we would be able to get a budget estimate from a QS? I am going to ring around but wanted to ask here first to have a bit of background information.

How much should a budget estimate cost?

A well experience one will be able to do this but without drawings and spec they will prob give you a minimum and max cost.
 
A QS can offer a cost estimate based on the area and level of specification and finish.

This may or may not cover the cost of professional fees and planning application fees.
