Is this the end of Affordable Housing? Councillors in Cork City have given their approval to plans to use vacant houses in Affordable Housing estates for social housing. 50 houses in the following estates, some of which have been kept vacant for years will be allocated to people on the social housing list within the next two months.

Ard na Ri, Banduff,
Kilbrack Grove, Skehard Road,
Coppinger’s Acre, Bantry Park Road,
Hollyhill Heights, Hollyhill

The Council will also attempt to sell again 54 Affordable Housing Iniatative houses in the below estates. However any unsold houses will then be used for social housing.

Ard Sionnach, Shanakiel,
Glentrasna Avenue, The Glen

**** Full details available on the Minutes of Cork City Council meetings which are available on the Councils website.

Can anyone tell me if this is the case in relation to kilbrack grove? this is a new estate and the council havent even tried to sell these houses not to mind offering them to people on the social housing list?

go on to the cork city council website and have a look at the minutes of the meeting...i dont see where the original poster of this thread got this exact information from..because it doesnt say that plain and simple..it mentions affordable housing and social housing units alrite but it doesnt say they are all going to be given for social housing if left unsold

As far as I know the Kilbrack Grove houses have been completed since late 2008.

There are two types of Affordable Housing in Cork City. AH Scheme and AH Initiative. 50 of the 104 vacant houses are in AH Scheme estates and as stated in the minutes these are to be allocated to social housing applicants in the near future.
