Copyright info needed

If a UK based TV series has their name copyrighted, does this mean that this name is only copyrighted to UK area or is it worldwide? Say someone in Ireland wants to use the same name for a new start up business - does anyone know if this is possible to do? Have browsed but cant seem to find what im looking for?

Any help would be appreciated?

example - eastenders - could you call a company here eastenders? or say x factor etc? can an irish company call themselves x factor (just giving examples)

thats a trade mark.

check the register of trade marks on the patents office website
www.patentsoffice.ie
it will also explain what is covered by the patents and whats not
