Hi all, just recently got into this whole new age of technology and currently in the middle of transferring my CD collection to my PC and finally on to an MP3 player, I have a nice collection of cassettes and was wondering how possible and whats the best and easist method of transferring these tapes to my PC / MP3.

Any feedback / advise much appreciated.

Thanks,

What I have done is ..

- cable from cassette player to LINE IN socket on sound card - a short cable with a headphone jack on either end.
- use the 'Record from Analog Input' function with CDEX to record from the sound card.
- used free/trial software (can't remember which) to split out the large MP3 file track by track.

Very labour-intensive and the quality ain't the Mae West.

Audacity is an opensource Program I use quite a bit for recording from the internet. In their FAQ section they explain exactly how to go from cassette to mp3 using this program. I don't know what quality in that situation is like but I am very happy with any work I have done with it.
