Copy DVD over network

Hi
I have a laptop and a desktop computer hooked up with a crossover ethernet cable. The connection seems very quick.

I have a DVD player on the desktop and a DVD copier on the laptop.

Has anyone copied DVDs directly from disc to disc over the network with this setup? Will Sonic Record Now be able to tell if the DVD will fit on the disc I put in the burner?

In theory, it should be possible, but the likelihood of getting a burn error is much higher. But there's no reason to, if the laptop has a DVD copier... simply copy the files accross the network to the laptop's hard drive and burn the copy from there.
