Converting Digital Images into .tif format

Hi,
I'm preparing a manuscript (using MS Works Word Processor, not MS WORD) with a view of saving it as a .prn file for sending it (either by email or CD) off to the publisher. I want to include some of the digital images in the manuscript - however, they're in .jpeg format, where the publisher wants them in .tif format. How can these images be converted (colour into black/white suitable for printing as paperback books).

Thanks,
Allendog

It strikes me as very odd that they would request .tif

In either case most graphics software should be able to do the conversion for you. Check on tucows.com

Yep, and other programs. But what's a bit ironic is that the .tif format is less 'lossy' than the (compressed) .jpg format. If his originals are jpegs, it's a bit like asking him to convert a DivX .avi back up to 'raw' .avi — no gain in quality, just a heck of a bigger file size...

tiff is a terrible format though. Sure it's less lossy - the lack of any compression will do that

Hi, all.

Many thanks for all your help, esp. the link to 'Scantips' - most informative.
Have found that it's possible to 'Save as' the images in .tif format, after all.
Cheers,
