My friends central heating is via a gas boiler supplying from tanks. She thinks it would be cheaper and more convenient to get oil instead and wants to know if its possible to convert a boiler to take oil rather than gas. The boiler is a Volkera wall mounted unit cant remember model.

She's probably right about it being cheaper but I doubt it's any more convenient.
You won't be able to convert from wall hung gas to oil, the internals are completely different.
Also, most oil fired boilers are floor mounted so there will be pipework and flue etc involved.

It cant be converted. She would have to buy a new oil boiler and tank etc.

Gas & Oil boilers are 2 separate entities. It would have to be completely replaced. Oil boilers start at about €1000, plus plumbing + tank, etc

Thank you Didnt think it would be possible. Might suggest a single big tank instead of smaller five foot high tanks. Its in a housing estate so this might be a problem
