Converting a bungalow into a dormer

1. Any idea how much this would cost per square foot roughly?

2. Do you get better value by adding space to your home this way as opposed to through building an extension?

3. Does the original bungalow need to meet certain specifications before it is considered suitable for conversion to a bungalow?

4. Finally(!), in general terms, is it difficult to get planning for conversion to a dormer?

1 probably not that much
2 sounds a better idea than an extension, if your bungalow is suitable to begin with
3 if the foundations are strong enough and it wasnt built for a fiver in the seventies using cavity blocks, you should be allright
4 in general i think planners are amenable to this sort of thing although they are not a very predictable bunch.
