Hi,

I have been left a petrol station in a village in kerry in a will. I wounder how easy/difficult it would be to convert to apartments, could probably fit 4 i reckon. Anyone have any ideas even how I would go about doing this?

Thanks

petrol to 4 apartments financially could never work as the cost of decontamination of the petrol tanks/ containated gound will negate the financial benifit. You would have to get more than 4 units.

Talk to an architect to get a realistic design and take it from there. It may be more benificial to get commercial shop on GF and apartments overhead. If you need to put in a basement your in trouble.

You might also want to check the zoning of the site to see if residential is or commercial are permissible uses, which they may well not be.

Why not keep it as a petrol station?
Surely they need petrol in the village?
You could improve it in many ways, I am sure.

"USS people"......What does USS people mean?

OP,
There are several examples in Kerry of Petrol Forecourts being converted to Apartments. Check the planning applications in Kerry Co Co.

The HMS and USS above is in relation to "the ship having sailed".

HMS and USS are two of the country of origin prefixes used with military (and other?) ships.

HMS - His/Her Majestys Ship and USS - United States Ship ... AFAIK.

Basically, a joke (have to say, I enjoyed the pun on "USS" / "us").

As a joke, it surely provides more light than heat, which is the criteria most often used on AAM.

"Non-obscure" jokes - those that provide only heat/warmth with no enlightenment - should probably be banned for consistency.

Thanks guys for the help, sitting down with architect during week. Didnt want to keep it as a garage as there is a new garage with centra, etc, there now. Also, im no longer living in the area so would not be able to manage it if i did retain. Thanks for the help.
