Hi!
I recently purchased a video from the American eBay website. However on receipt of it I realised that American VHS video tapes have a different format to the European format.
In Ennis, Co. Clare today I was quoted 40 euros for the conversion of the format of the tape. Extravagent I'm sure you will agree.
can anyone recommend a business (in Dublin or Limerick perhaps) that would reformat the tape at a more reasonable cost!
thanking you in advance,
Yours Sincerely,
Brendan

Before you consider paying out 40 euro, check if your video player is NTSC (USA standard) compatible. Most modern day video players are both NTSC & PAL (European standard) compatible. Just simply put the tape into you video player & see if it plays OK. If not, you could probably pick up a compatible player for not much more than 40 euro. Hope this helps!

The results of this will also depend on your TV since many NTSC compatible VCRs do a partial conversion of the signal to PAL which may result in interference, reduction in colour quality and/or rolling picture (and few TVs these days have a manual vertical hold control to address the latter).
