Conundrum - Should I take a DB pension or take out an ARF with transfer of funds instead.

Aim to get one paid class A Prsi contribution before the end of 2024.
38 euro earnings will achieve this, so 3 hours at minimum wage.
This will get you 52 change of status credits for 2024 and 52 for 2023.
These cannot be used to meet the 520 or 260 minimum full rate paid contributions rule. But they are Reckonable for the Contributory Pension after you achieve the 520 or 260 full rate paid Prsi level.

Check your Prsi record. You might have some full rate paid contributions from your pre establishment days.

You have 6 years up to age 66 to obtain extra full rate paid contributions.
If you don't want to remain in employment, you can pay voluntary contributions at a cost of 500 euro per year.

Or if you decide to go the ARF route you can get full rate Prsi from the ARF drawdowns.

260 full rate contributions will qualify you for a pro rata pension.

A small bit of effort will allow you to qualify for a portion of the Contributory Pension.

You also have the possibility to qualify for Benefit Payment 65.
