Contributory and non Contributory Pension

my wife will be applying for the non contributory pension on reaching 66 years and should pass the means test and get the full pension. However she worked for about 10 years in the past and accumulated about 480 contributions. Am i right in assuming that if she gets the full non contributory pension she is not entitled to anything in respect of these contributions.
 
With 480 contributions she would be lucky to get a half-rate pension E115.00.

If she qualifies for a full non-con. pension then she would get E206.00.
I think the choice is fairly obvious.
