Hi
I am employed in a temporary/contract capacity (i.e. not a full time employee) by an agency in the Irish Repubblic who have placed me to work with one of their clients, working on the clients site
My contract finishes at the end of June. I will at that time have worked up about 10 days annual leave. I am PAYE. I am Irish national
I have been told that the client site I work at, due to changing work practices, is planning to end its relationship with the agency I am employed by around the end of June and are moving to use another/new agency
The manager I work for at the client site has indicated that she would still like to keep me working for her on her site but would need me to move to the other/new agency to ensure continuity of employment but there might be a gap of a few weeks or a month before I would start work with the new agency. Terms and conditions would be pretty similar.
I don't have an issue with doing that as current agency isn't really making any effort to place me anywhere else when my contract finishes at end of June
I have spoken with the manager on the client site about my leave I have worked up and taking it. She has said that as we are really busy she cant really afford for me to take the time off between now and the end of june.
She had suggested however that I put in for my annual leave days I have built up with the current agency I am employed with saying that im going to take the 10 days off from around mid June onwards in lead up to my contract with them finishing and will get paid for those days via normal payroll. She is suggesting however that I dont actually take those days off as holidays but I work those days as normal but will get my holiday pay for them.
She saying that then I could use the holiday pay then to tide me over for the few weeks before my current contract finishing and the new one with the new agency starting and using those couple weeks as my holiday time, signing on for those couple weeks if I wanted too
All my dealings with this manager to date have been positive and open and honest and I do like the client site where im working and the people. But im right that she is trying to pull a fast one on me with regards this - right am I missing something. >
I believe that I put in for the holidays but don't take them and she gets 2 weeks work out of me and I don't get any holiday time off and I end up taking a hit then for the couple weeks between contracts
Am I missing something here?. Is she trying to pull a fast one on me or is this a common practice that happens ?
What do others think?
What other options are there regarding working this out
Thanks
