Hi.

I have a six months notice period under the terms of my contract. So if I resign I have to work out the six months period, or if I get the boot they have to pay up the six months period.
It is a permanent, staff job.
Now, here is my question: if I am told I am going to be made redundant, do they have to honour the contract? Or can they say, tough?
The redundancy scenario would not mean the business closing down, rather it would be a cost saving venture.

Thanks in advance.

Without knowing the wording of your actual contract it's hard to say for definate. However, in any company I've worked for, in similar situations, if they did not want someone to work out their notice, they had to pay PILON (Pay in lieu of notice )payments, in effect, pay you for the 6 months or for whatever part of your notice you did not work

my company are saying they ill not pay the pension contributions relating to the PILON, but my contract say what my montly contractual benefits shoud be .... do thye have a case ?
