My daughter and her friend doing Post Grads in Dublin. They are renting out an apartment, I was wondering about contents insurance. All the threads appear to relate to people who actually own the apartments. I think the minimum cover is about 20K when you are the owner. They only have their lap tops and clothes I would say the very max would be 6K. Is there any point in looking for cover as usually you are not covered for the first hundred or two of a claim due to the excess. Or can you get a policy for such a small amount of cover or is it worth it?

It is well worth it, especially if they are unfortunate to be robbed. The cost of decent laptop computers and clothing and personal possessions will add up to more than 6k if you sit down and do a tot - up.

I will have a look around and see what I come up with. I think the minimum will be about €120 pa.
