Contact Lens Online

If you're looking for contact lens online then try yourlenses.com (they spell it that way!). I just got 6 months supply of lens and solutions from them this morning at less that half the price Vision Express were going to charge me. Time from ordering to delivery took seven days and since they're based in Sweden I didn't have to worry about customs.

Several people here recommended getlenses.com but they proved a bit more expensive : getlenses = 80 euro for 6 mths, yourlenses = 66 euro for 6 mths

Beat the rip off and buy online!

i think you'll find visiondirect.co.uk even cheaper than yourlenses. I use Ciba Focus Dailies

90 pairs (180 lenses) - €75.01 on visiondirect.co.uk + €6.00 delivery
90 pairs (180 lenses) - €90.00 on yourlenses.ie + €5.00 delivery

socky, if theyre dailies, how long can they last? if I bought 180 would they last 12 months in their sealed solution as I would only use them 180 days a year if even (sport etc)?
I currently get 12 months of monthlies from getlenses, but always thought dailies would cost more.

I've always bought dailies. Again I only use a pair once or twice a week for sport and weekends so it would take me at least 2 years to use up 180 pairs. The last batch I got was is 2003 and they had a sell by date of 2006 so i've been using this batch since then without any problems. Depends on sell by date on them i think.

I always use coastalcontacts.com and have always been pleased with the service. One tip, though, is to buy through their US site (.com) as it works out cheaper than their UK one. The UK one will deliver your order anyway.

My order from coastal contacts was sent from america and it got stopped for customs. Ended up costing as much as getlenses but took forever to arrive.

Have always orderered my contacts online (visiondirect.com) but am coming to the end of a 6 month batch and will need an eye test before I can reorder. Was wondering is it possible to go into any opticians and have a eyetest done and then leave without purchasing the lenses from them ? Kills me to pay for my lenses here when I know that I can get them much cheaper online.

Yes, I use Specsavers for my six monthly check ups and 2 year eye tests, and haven't purchased lenses from them in around 2 years.

Excellent, thanks for that. Didn't want to book an eye test only to find myself stuck having to purchase the lenses there and then. Off to book eye test now. Thanks again

Can I ask Edel V a question:

I too use VisionDirect.com, but have relatives in the States and usually combine a visit to them with a purchase of lenses (I order online before I go and have the lenses mailed to my sister in SFran).

I have always wondered about ordering and having them delivered to Ireland - but was wary of the possible charges involved. Have you been charged any extras?

Thanks

Sorry for the delay in replying but am on a 3 day week and have no internet access at home. Anyway to answer your question have used vision direct for the past 2 years and have never incurred any extra charges. The price quoted online is the total amount charged to my credit card and they are usually delivered within 1 week. Can't fault their service or their prices. Hope this helps

Edel
