Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is an alternative method of getting in touch with someone in relation to their MIS application. I have been trying the only number I have (for the Dublin North Central Unit) all day to no avail! I managed to get through to them yesterday and was told a Community Welfare Officer would ring me today however as I realise they are probabaly inundated at the moment I took it upon myself to get in touch this morning and just as well as I am still waiting for the CWO to contact me!!

The phone has been ringing off the hook ALL DAY!!!! I am at my wits end at this rate and need to find out the status of my application. Is there any other number I can ring....I rang my local SW office but was told the only route to go is via the central number for my area.

It seems ridiculous given the situation so many home-owners are in that an office responsible for assisting mortgage holders can appear to be un-manned for the entire working day!! There isn't even an answering/call-back service...surely it could be providing better public service than I currently experienced today.

Apologies if this appears as a rant but if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

The CWOs and their managers deal with this stuff on an area basis AFAIK and there is no way to circumvent the queues which are unfortunately growing daily. In certain areas the CWOs are literally run off their feet and they don't get a minute to themselves. All I can suggest is attending one of the clinics they usually organise weekly in Health Centres and the like and talk to them one-to-one.

If anyone wants to chip in and correct me please do so. My information comes from a couple CWOs I know socially.

It sounds as if the local SWA officers in the area where FTB lives no longer deal with Mortgage Interest Supplement locally. Some areas have centralised services and do not have public offices any more - applications for Rent Supplement or Mortgage Interest Supplement are dealt with by post.

It is true that the offices are extremely busy, but if they have said they will call back, then they will when they have information.

Morning AAM'ers,

Well finally got through to the MIS unit.....only 1 full-time person and 1 part-time person looking after Mortgage Interest Supplement applications!! No wonder I'm finding it impossible to get talking to someone.....but still no one available to talk to today due to sickness and holiday leave! So no one covering MIS applications today, the person who answered the phone was dealing with Rent Supplement applications so could only add my message to the previous post-its sitting on the CWO's desk!!

No wonder people are leaving this country in their droves!!
