Consumers Association: trying to cancel a CC-DD subscription to their Magazine

Hi

Anyone tried to make contact with above recently by either phone or email.

I have been trying to make contact for the last 2 months by phone and email to no avail.

I am trying to cancel a subscription to their Magazine, which they are no longer printing.

Any feedback appreciated

It is paid through a Credit Card and they will only accept an instruction to cancel from the CA

Explain to the CC company that they will not give an instruction and ask the CC company for another method to cancel it.
 
The magazine is still going but it's now an online-only publication. You have to write/email if you want to cancel (see below). If you don't then I imagine you might get charged for the whole year.

"To facilitate banking requirements all cancellations must be advised, by letter or email only, a full 30 days in advance. An administration charge of €25 will apply to all cancellations."

That it the type of business practice the Consumers Association should be campaigning against.

It might be worth reading through back issues of Consumer Choice to see if they have answered a similar question about the practice in a utility supplier.

People paid their subscription to get a magazine. If they are not publishing the magazine, they should automatically cancel the subscriptions. Mad stuff.

I remember reading that the CAI were protesting about a cancellation charge by VHI at one point, and also I think Ryanair's admin charges for processing refunds.

The magazine is still being published online afaik.
