I have just bought new applicances for my house and I am wondering if the retailer is obliged to take back the packaging i.e. foam and cardboard. I know they have to take the old appliances that are being replaced but I'm not sure about the packaging. Anybody know about this?

Thanks.

That's interesting-I don't see the likes of Currys or Power City on the Repak list unfortunately.

DID are on the list.

Why have councils removed cardboard recycling bins from local bring centres ??? Anyone else have experience of this ???

I might be imagining this but I'm nearly sure that I saw a notice in Power City (Coolmine, Dublin) saying that they accept the packaging regardless of where the product was bought. The notice looked 'official', it must have had a Fingal Co Co stamp or the like to give me that impression. Mrs. G was on a spree at the time so the trauma of the day may be clouding my recollection ... I'll check it again the next time I'm in there...

Is this possibly a condition that non-Repak subscribers have to agree to ?
