My sister used to work for a company. She was earning 35k. The management was pretty much a bunch of bullies. She would be upset from the job from time to time. One day the boss gave her a pay drop. Going from 35k to 25k plus commision (which was very little). She was given no choice or any say in the matter. The decision was final.

She finally decided she had enough. So she got another job. But she is bitter towards the treatment she has received. So she is doing up a constructive dismissal complaint against the former employer. Can anyone give advice on this situation.

Not to mention the company has a bad record with other employees some were sacked. Pregnant women let off etc. And she is also seeking 710 euro unpaid commission. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your terms and conditions (inc. Pay) cannot be changed without your consent.
If what you say is true then it is a clear case of constructive dismissal.
She should contact the Department of Trade and Employment and ask their advice.
Women who were dismissed when pregnant should contact the DTE and the equality Authority.

Well sounds like she had no choice but to sign a contract - looks like she had no choice - does this make a difference in the way of a claim through the DETE -?

Has your sister elicited professional advice from a solicitor who specialises in this aspect of Labour law? It is likely that your sister is not a member of a Trade Union, has she considered joining one?
