Construction Work/Noise Pollution

Hi guys

I was just wondering if there certain hours that construction work/maintenance can only take place between? I'm living in Ranelagh and there were workers repairing the road/footpath last night until 11.30pm on behalf of South Dublin County Council. They had a JCB type machine as well and a loud jackhammer. When I woke this morning about 8am they were out again. Surely they can't finish up that late??
 

This is very very strange. Ranelagh is in Dublin City, so how come SDCC people were doing work? Should you not report this to DCC?

In general terms, DCC only allows private construction work during the daytime - usually a planning permission condition.

However, DCC itself does the majority of repairs of roads/footpaths on main routes only at night so as to avoid causing traffic delays.
 
I thought it was strange as well. I can't remember the name of the company off hand but it definitely said on their road signs "Working on behalf of SDCC"
