Construction/unemployment/part time Artist

Hi There,

If a recently unemployed construction worker had "Artist tax exemption" status and couldn't find construction work but could do commisions one day a week could he still claim job seeker's allowance/dole for the rest of the week or is he entitled to claim for the full week if he only pursues his "hobby" in the evenings as he did prior to redundancy ?

Any one any ideas as to what is accepted norm here
