Hi,
My wife and I both work. I earn €42000 pa and she earns €30000. She can take redundancy from the public sector. At the moment we pay our mortage €850 a month, CU loan €120 per week and we owe €500 on CC. We also pay €90 per week for a childminder. The childminder takes the child 3 days a week and my mother the other two. We have house insurance, life insurance, car insurance and tax for two cars and all usual house bills.
My wife is pregnant and due to go on maternity leave in May. I wouldn't ask my mother to take two kids and the childminding fees will probably be €200 a week.
The redundancy would clear the CU loan. It seems we won't have a whole lot left after paying the childminder.
What would my wife be entitled to if she stayed at home to mind the kids? Would we qualify for any supplements?
Thanks in advance,
Nicky
