connecting to the internet

My sister has just give me an old laptop for my childrren, and I need to connect it to the internet, I already have a PC and that has broadband, what is the easiest and cheapest way to connect to the internet, it will only be used occasionaly

If it's an old laptop it's probably full of clutter and the best thing you could do is wipe the hard drive with something like the PC Decrapifier (and/or do a fresh install of Windows, if you have the necessary disk). Then get some good anti-virus protection onto it the very first time you connect to the internet. Ninite is a very handy one-stop site for loading up all the various free software you might want — much quicker than visiting each website and installing the programmes one by one.
