Connecting to Internet 1st time

I have just installed Win98 on an old P3 PC, and the OS installation went fine. I am now trying to connect to the internet via an ethernet card. However each time I try to connect, I get this bloody "Welcome to MSN Internet Access" screen which is prompting me to install a modem. I dont have a modem! It wont let me connect via the network card. Any ideas?

The card is installed and visible
I have the connection set to obtain an IP address automatically.
 
Have you gone into the Control Panel? I think that you can set your internet options there including telling it to go via the ethernet link rather than by modem.

Its been a while but i'll give it a try...


Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Internet Options --> Connections - >tick Never Dial A Connection.. press ok...
