Hi, can anyone tell me how to do the above or who I need to contact (broadband provider or god-forbide microsoft!)?

I presume I need to add in a POP3 connection but don't know the POP3 server - incoming and outgoing server details.

Thanks.

Outlook or Outlook Express? Never managed to get the former (Outlook 2003 anyway) connected to Hotmail. The latter is simple if you follow the new account wizard.

Edited again to add: Seems that hotmail no longer even suppoort http access through outlook or outlook express without a paid subscription, so my instructions below can be ignored. Sorry

In outlook you have to set the account type to http.
So tools -> Accounts -> Add new email account
Select http
Then select hotmail from the drop down liist and enter your username and password.

In outlook express add new mail account
Enter details until you get to the 'My email account is a ... server
Select http from this drop down list then select hotmail from the service provider list

ETA: I meant to say that hotmail doesn't support pop3 access unless you have an older account or have a premium subscription

Yeah - recently created Hotmail accounts don't even work with OE as I recently discovered. My older Hotmail accounts (not paid for) still work though.

Do MS charge for hotmail now?! Didn't know that...not good. Is it expensive?

I don't pay for it. I'm not sure that they do charge. I just know that more recently created accounts don't work with Outlook Express any more.

They charge for the 'premium' packages, I think the cheapest is about $25 per year - you get a huge storage limit and don't need to log in once a month.
On the free account they delete your emails and suspend the account if you don't log in once a month.

Edited to add following from MSN website:

Can't access my free account from Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express

To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail or spam sent from MSN Hotmail accounts through Outlook and Outlook Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Outlook and Outlook Express to subscribers only.
By making this feature part of a subscription (which requires a user to provide billing information), we can more effectively manage and put a stop to the abuse of this feature, and help protect you and others from unsolicited mail.
If you purchase a subscription service such as MSN Hotmail Plus, or MSN Premium, you get access to your account from Outlook or Outlook Express, along with many other added features. To see other benefits of upgrading your MSN Hotmail or MSN accounts or to create a new subscription account, visit our subscription information page.

Hi Everyone,

Im just wondering i have a email account with IOL, i was wondering can i link this into my outlook express and if so whats the procedure? Thanks.

If IOL provide POP3 access to such accounts then you can use Outlook Express and other POP3 email client applications to access your email.
