Hi can anyone help me,i have been trying to connect my laptop[VGA socket] to a Philips HD Tv.I have two cables i have used so far [HDMI to VGA] & [VGA to 3 RCA. Nothing has worked so far in connecting the two.I am pretty pc litterate and have tried every avenue i think? My Video Camera works no problem through this Tv and the laptop works also on another telly but with a cable {DVI to VGA} that was supplied with this TV. Hopefully there is someone outthere there that can help a very vexed man? Chippy

Some issue-specific Googling may be your best bet on this one or going to a specialist computer forum. Two questions; -

Is this telly digital?
Does any other laptop connect to this telly?

Hi,yes it is a digital tv and no i have not connected any other laptop. My video camera works no problem through the telly plus there is an NTL box attached and a home cinema centre all working fine.Funny thing is i cant get the laptop to work on another lcd Tv i have with the cables i purchased on ebay.Would by any chance it be a cable problem? The laptop works fine on the lcd Tv with the pc cable that came with that particular Tv. Anyway thanks for your help ONQ so far.

You're very welcome, but I confess I am no expert on any of this.
Over time I've found issue-specific Googling can reveal a multitude.

You might find that a specific issue exists with your TV or your Cable or your Laptop [doubtful] or more likely, your combination of all those three.

Your tv should have a vga input, so you get cable vga to vga and connect between your laptop and tv. Your tv will only support certain resolutions , so you select resolution on your laptop corresponding to whatt tv will support. On tv remote u will propbably have to select source of signal so set it to PC.

Im afraid tv does not have vga input only HDMI,scart and side connectors {s-video] etc.I have found out i need a PC To TV Converter as VGA is Analogue and HDMI on my TV is Digital, two different signals.Hopefully the converter ive ordered will do the trick.
