Confusion on ARF tax

I have an ARF in Ireland and have taken both permitted tax free cash from it - plus other large sums which are paid to me by my fund manager after Irish tax. The ARF still has a substantial amount left in it and apart from the 4% compulsory withdrawals, I intend to leave it alone.

I have lived in the UK for the last few years and am a UK tax resident and wondered if and how I need to declare these payments to HMRC.

Can this income be taxed in the UK where I have tax credits?

Or does it have to be taxed in Ireland as it has been?

I now know that the Revenue Commission has a form - Refund of Taxes paid on ARF Distributions
Claim form to be completed by non resident claimant

Would I pay less tax by paying it in the UK?
And claiming back the Irish tax?

Or could I end up paying tax twice?

Any advice welcome.

While you may get pointers on Askaboutmoney, for specialist issues involving two tax jurisdictions, it is better to pay for an expert who specialises in the area.
