Conflicting Speed Results

How is it when I use Speedtest .net ; I get a Ping of 155ms and download of 0.78mbs
when I use Vodafone speed test a minute later I gert a Ping of 45ms and a download of 6.8 mbs?
 
Out of interest what kind of upload speeds are indicated?

I find speedtest.net to be the more reliable measure.
 
Try googling "speedtest.net results vary". I got some interesting hits but didnt have time to read them. Some posters suggest that isp's can manipulate speedtests!
 
That a massive variation, I suspect that there's something wrong with Speedtest.net at the moment, they use to match quite well
 
I found a big variation depending on whether I chose the "recommended" server or "your preferred server" (UPC, in my case).
