Computer dead - ipod upload?

My computer died - my itunes gone and I cant reboot machine so have no access.
Is there any way to upload my music from my ipod onto a new machine?
I am afraid to plug the ipod into the new machine until I have answered this question - incase I erase all by synching or something. Needless to say I am not savvy in this dept. - at all.
