Alternatively, a particular model/engine might fall into a 'sweet spot', being less desirable in the UK, and hence better value.

Thanks for that, I've taken the actual C02 emissions and not the band from the dealers spec on their website and matched it up with available spec from Revenue's website.
Obviously VRT will be higher than expected if dealer has misrepresented the C02 emissions in the advert but I would double check that before travelling.
The Honda Accord has been named as the most reliable car in the UK. Its a good looking car too and also has the space and comfort your looking for. The 2.2 cdti is a great engine and it should hold its value better than the skoda and the citroen i mentioned already
