Company to manage and design website

Hi There, does anyone know of a company that will manage and design a website as well as looking after technical PC problems. Might be too much to ask , but like the idea of dealing with one company for everything.

I'm not aware of any that directly market these services as combined (although I'm sure many would be willing to provide it if the price was right), but even if it was available, I'd highly recommend against it.

By the time you've limited your options in terms of experience, ability, expertise (having an attractive website design, that provides the functionality you need, with a user friendly CMS tailored to your needs, with a strong SEO focus, that's to your tastes... etc.) your options on a web designer who can provide your needs within your budget will be limited enough. To further limit your options to those that are willing to offer general IT troubleshooting, the idea of achieving the best value for money is thrown out the window.

A website (assuming this is for a business venture) is too important (and expensive if going for a bespoke site) to try and bundle what is essentially a totally unrelated service into the package, in my own humble opinion. Focus on getting the best possible site produced and the benefits of this will more than offset the additional 'hassle' of having to employ a separate company for IT issues.

Thanks Satanta, was hoping for an easy way out. Any recommendations for someone to design and upkeep a website

What sort of 'upkeep' do you imagine will be needed?

Most developers will include a fairly user friendly CMS (content management system - either an 'in house' system or something like WordPress/Joomla) to allow you to do all of the 'upkeep' yourself, if you're willing/able. Training in the use of the CMS is normally available too.

Many will happily offer you 'management' of the site as an extra, but you obviously pay (possibly significantly) extra for this. If it's a business site that you want to be maintained to the highest standards (e.g. each page produced individually, search engine optimisation maintained by a professional, etc.) this option might be the best for you, but it will have a fairly significant cost.

It really comes down to what you need/want from the site as to who will be best placed to provide the service.

You can have a basic 'brochure' type site (a couple of static pages that provide the relevant information) for a very low price (even lower if you're happy to use a standard template design), starting at a couple of hundred euro.

If you want a bespoke site (e.g. designed specifically around your needs and more personalised/unique) it obviously requires more time (more expertise) and therefore a higher cost.

If you need the site to provide a full e-commerce solution (e.g. provide sales directly through the site) it will require more work on the backend to integrate all of the elements, so again, an additional cost again.

Whatever your budget/needs, it's important that you get a site that meets your design needs (e.g. looks good), can be found (is search engine optimised to your target market/keywords) and provides the functionality you need. It's not an easy task to meet all of the needs (especially within budget), but getting it right and choosing the right developer at the start is vital to save costs and headaches down the line.
