Came across something from Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators. www.icsa.org.uk (there is an Irish division of it)

Are these the standard bearers? or is it like accountancy where there are different variations of same/perceptions of same.

As far as I know there is an Irish qualification. It is similar to the institute of chartered accountants in that it is regional.

I googled for "chartered secretaries institute ireland" and got the following from a xls sheet on the DIT site.

Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators
Professional Body
Westminster Lawn,
Foxrock,
D.18
01 283 2451

They dont seem to have much of an internet presence.

Yes, they are just the Irish wing of the website below - the above address is mentioned on that site

Hi Betsy,

I know some people who have spent the last few years studying for these exams. They find the course very interesting and challenging.

Good to know. Its only an embroyonic idea at the moment - I'd be able to jump in at the last set due to exemptions - unlikely to get the experience required to get full membership but that wouldnt bother me too much - more of an add-on than a career change.

So I suppose I can take it that its the premier qualification in this regard?
