Is it possible to get company account information for free or do you have to pay on the cro website ?

Try Solocheck.ie, if you want specifics like turnover etc you have to pay a nominal fee, maybe €3 worth it depending on what you may need the info for.

You could try Duedil where you will get a good amount of information for free and see how that works for you

When I was studying accountancy a few years back, I had to get some PLC's accounts, so I asked for a copy on their website. I received a phone call from one of the directors ( a high profile telecoms company & director). I had the accounts in my hands an hour later by courier.

Nowadays, the CRO satisfies my queries for the small fees involved.

Do plc's not publish their accounts on their own websites?

If it's a small company then you will only get an Abridged Balance Sheet and nominal notes. You won't get stuff like turnover or expenses or wages or anything like that.
