Aaagh! Was late for work this morning because my normal bus sailed past the stop, leaving about ten of us stranded, because bus was packed with kids from a local school abviously being taken for a day out. This was at 8.45am. Does anyone else feel these schools should either hire a coach or travel later on in the morning when there isn't so much demand. Even if you do manage to be one of the lucky ones who gets on the bus, the long delays as all these kids are counted on, a zillion tickets issued, and then are all counted off can be really frustrating when you are trying to get to work.

Well, my boss tends to get grumpy if I land in late and he's been looking for me. 'The bus was full' doesn't sound like the most professional excuse.

Many schools are struggling to arrange a trip at all, without putting extra pressure on hard-pressed parents. The extra cost of a coach would make the trip not feasible in many cases.
And when you are tied to public transport, you may not have the luxury of choosing your own schedule.
