Community Money Collections

Wondering what you think of this senario : House to house collections were taken up 20 odd years ago but no one knows what happened to the money.

Fast forward to 2013 another house to house collection was taken up for another village amenity which has (we
were only told this in the last week) subsequently fallen through.

A villager has recently asked on social media about this money and where it has gone but was fobbed off.
Is this a common occurrence regarding collections in small areas..

Keep asking the questions, Newbie. You must get an answer. If you get none, toddle down to the nearest Garda Station and they'll get answers.

Good few grand each of the 2 collections, am tempted to tell them to get it out of what what money was collected last time if they show up looking for more.

Don't be tempted ! If someone else reports this to Gardaí you might get the blame and unwanted attention.

No intention of drawing it on me, quite a few people are now openly questioning the whereabouts of the money, so going to be interesting to see if anything comes of it..

What was the organisation doing the collecting? That may define next steps. Many community councils are regulated by the Charity regulator

Some locals were doing the collecting, it was for a walkway at the bottom of the village. It's the new residents to the area that are raising questions of where the money went.

The very first collection that was raised went into a bank in a local town and no answers can be got where that went either.

I do hope they badger the relevant people. It's not as uncommon as people might think as. A questioning of where these monies have gone will more than likely give more information on who is related to who in the town, more than it will answer the whereabouts of the collected money.
