A friend of mine has a small business that is expanding. He's now looking to lease some werehousing space. Is there anyone out there does a sort of communal warehousing set-up where the costs of security, insurance, operatives, etc is split between the businesses?

I ask because his business is now far too big to be operated from his home, but not big enough as for him to be able to have his own warehouse with dedicated staff.

Any thoughts or ideas on a solution for him?

Can he rent a unit in one of those places where you can store your old furniture etc (U-store or something)?
It'll come down to insurance cover for his goods.

He could check out those self contained storage units. Heavily advertised at moment. Suitability would depend on size and how often he would need to access, heavy goods needing pallet truck etc.
Alternatively, he could stick an advert up on daft stating location requirements, size, lease term, unloading requirements (froklift etc) and see who bites. Once he had lease in place, he chould have no problem getting insurance subject to suitable adequate security. he may well find that there are alot of epople with excess capacity looking to generate alternative income and happy with below market rent ifor the short term

he could rent pallet spaces from a freight company, Don't know where abouts he is but in Limerick you can get it for 3Euros a week 2.5Euros to move a pallet in and out.
