Hi everyone,
Can anyone help with a bit of advice. Can I buy a commercial jeep purely for private use? I only need front seats as I will be the only one using the car. Also, If the commercial vehicle is privately owned can I still pay car tax at the commercial rate?
Thanks!

For tax purposes a jeep can be owned for private or commercial use. For private use you can use all the seats in the jeep. If you want to tax it for commercial use, you can only have 2 seats in the front and you will need to have a DOE test every year (as opposed to NCT every 2 years - but don't need an NCT to tax whereas can't be taxed without a DOE test). Commercial cost for tax is €253 + €6 for the Certificate of Roadworthiness (plus whatever it costs to pass the DOE).
